YARD

Yard explores the physical and emotional dynamics of the two roofs that inhabit an intentional community of the 9 women I live with. The objects we collect and allow to fill our space make up the identity of our homes, breathing life into the physical. The things we rely on each other for become expectant and vulnerable. The interdependence has changed our living space into more than a collective coexistence. A place of nurture and emotional refuge becomes something we have to fight for because of close living quarters, miscommunication, and the often competitive narratives that are imposed upon women, giving us the tendency to separate rather than connect. Our found sisterhood, with all its complexities, allows for understanding that our strength emerges not from isolation but from togetherness and companionship.
